New dining destinations
When top Chicago chefs Gale Gand and Rick Tramonto launched four new dining destinations last fall in northwest suburban Wheeling, they purposely created concepts they could transport from the Westin Chicago North Shore to any urban area with a population of affluent residents and employees who not only appreciates fine cuisine, but is willing to pay for it. Walk into the stylishly rustic Osteria di Tramonto, ultra-hip RT Lounge, swank Tramonto's Steak & Seafood and comfortably casual Gale's Coffee Bar and if you hadn't just parked your car in the huge free lot, you'd easily imagine yourself in downtown Chicago, Manhattan, Los Angeles -- or the nation's new culinary capital, Las Vegas. Opening Gale's and Osteria in October and RT Lounge and Tramonto's two months later was a huge feat ("It's like having newborns," says Gand, the mother of twin toddlers, "but four of 'em").
